Hi and thanks for reading this,
I've an old Quadra 950 thats still used daily in a working environment, it has a dead floppy drive.
I really need to access files on the Quadra on a regular basis.
I bought an Asante FriendlyNet 10T Network Trans w/AAUI Cable to give it an ethernet port.
Now I don't now what to do next...

I hooked it up to an XP laptop via crossover cable but I'm totally stumped.

As the floppy drive is dead I can't install any new software on the Quadra.
The software already installed is as follows;
OS 7.5.5
Mac TCP 2.0.6
Apple Talk 3.0.3 Vers 58.1.6 (not sure why I have two numbers there)
Ethertalk 2.5.7

If anyone can tell me how to setup a working link I'd be very grateful.
I also have a Mac PowerPC G4, running OSX 10.5.6, if that makes life any easier.

Yours hopefully,
The Hippy

Thanks for the reply Harry,
The people I work for are on a budget and don't want to shell out for a new drive.
The Quadra is hooked up to an electron microscope and I'm reluctant to upgrade the OS as I'm not sure that the capture card software will work afterwards.
Any other suggestions, I'm really in a bind here...

If you are willing to pay postage its yours

Ok Guys.
Thanks for the replies.
Assuming I can get a working floppy, from Louishen (thanks), is there any software I can use that will work via ethernet with the existing OS ?
I don't mind if I have to mount a fat32 windows share and do everything from the Quadra side.
I just need regular and easy file access...

Hopeful Hippy

The floppy arrived today!
Big Thanks to Louishen :)
I'm actually unable to install in until Monday but will report back.

Anyone got any further clues as to how I can network this old beast without an OS upgrade ?

Thankful Hippy

Thank You

Hey Louishen,
Many thanks for the floppy drive, it worked a treat.
Still got my ethernet issue but at least we can retrieve images from the beast and maybe even install new networking software.

Thanks again!
