Anti Virus

Hi everyone,

I was told that norton anti virus is not needed for my mac but since I let it expire I can't do updates, please can someone advice?

Ya, get rid of it...Norton has a bad habit anymore of missing a lot of things. There are better programs if you feel the need to run a virus checker.

Personally at this time, unless you are on a network with a bunch of pc's I wouldn't even bother. And the virus checker on the mac would be protecting the pc's not really your mac.

In most cases by the time we find out about an exploit, the vendor of the product have been notified already.

yeah, apple is too quick, they patch things that I dont even know exist.

That's the one of the many things that made me mad about Microsoft. They wait way too long to patch things up with all the security holes. They wait too long to do stuff, and by the time they get around to it, there is already a new problem to tackle. I like Apple's attempt to improve and patch the os as often as they do, I like to know that my mac is being taken care of.

That's because the exposed registry file system core is too difficult (impossible) to protect I'd never want the job! :radioacti
