hi,
just a few questions about the iphone 3g and the internet.

does the data mean you can access the internet anyway?

when you use home or cafe wifi, does it use your (pay for) data ?
or is it free like you laptop?

does the gps use data ?

hope to hear from someone soon thanks zookie4

It will ask you if you want to use your current location ( a wi-fi source if you
have a password) or between edge or 3g if 3g and wi-fi is enabled you have
the ability to turn them on and off and data plan covers it. From what i was
told yes GPS will use all 3 depending on which is enabled.

Yes, data means you can use the internet.

Wifi is not part of the data service. You are not charged when using wifi. Just like your laptop.

GPS uses data to assist in locating you but doesn't have to. You do need to use data for the maps.

You caan use data without tracking. There is a location toggle.

You can preload the maps on a wifi connection before you head out, just make sure that when you leave to turn on airplane mode. Thats pretty much the only way to use GPS without using your data plan

I don't understand. Isn't the data plan unlimited? Who cares if you use it or not, since your paying for unlimited access anyway?

If you are in another country or something where data roaming fees are outrageous, you might want to do it that way.
