Can I have some advice please?

Yo dudes. Sup. Etc.

I'm trying to connect my clamshell to my neighbour's PC to use his broadband connection (with his permission, obviously). The problem is that his is a Windows XP type thingy.

We've got all the necessary wires but all I need to know is what software we might need and how to set them up.

We're trying to avoid using one of them there router things, because he's had some problems with them in the past (and it would be preferable not to have to shell out on new hardware).

I assume that with my mac it's just a matter of setting up the TCP/IP panels and whatnot but I have no idea what to do on his.

Any advice gratefully received.

how are you trying to connect? is it a cabled connection? if its a cable connection,
youll most likely connect via ethernet somehow, so in network prefs, click ethernet, then click the configure button, then click the ethernet tab and set it to automatically once youre connected.

Hi,

Sorry, I forgot to explain a few things...

Firstly, to answer your question, it is indeed a cable.

Secondly I'm on OS 9.

However, if you're right it doesn't sound phenomenally difficult. The main problem may turn out to be setting my friend's PC up so it can accept my input. However he's already got a netweork set up so it may not be too complicated.

Thanks for your help anyway!
