osX instant messaging - noob

well im a noob with osX, but not with BSD and windows. I am looking for a good AIM chat program, i really cant handle using iChat.

also any other good programs i should have? all i have so far is sidetrack.

I like Proteus, not free though, or Adium is pretty decent.

I also like Proteus, this may sound weird, but I love its sound effects. It has a nice user interface.

theres also fire for instant messanging. as for other apps, get cocktail, carbon copy cloner, and smart reporter if youre hd is smartdisk compatible. also preferential treatment, toast for burning, and suitcase if you have more than the default fonts on your mac, dont use fontbook.

definitely Proteus. :)

I tired fire too, but didnt like it.

Proteus is better than Adium but it isn't free and not really worth the price in my opinion.
