Performance hit from multiple IEEE 1394 devices?

Hey guys, another quick one here. Currently I have my iSight hooked up to my notebook and was shopping around for an external HDD, to use via a Firewire hub of course. Now say if I'm on iChat AV using the video chat function and accessing data from the external drive, will that interfere any with my video chat?

I'd much rather go with the Firewire HDD due to the speed, but if I'll suffer a performance hit I guess I can just go w/ the USB alternative.

Thanks again.

So no choppy video on the iSight whilst accessing a drive both using Firewire? Good to hear! I think I'll go ahead and order that 300GB drive now! ;)
