How can I make the screen "flicker" in LiveType?

In Live Type go to the Media Browser and select the Effects tab. In the Category select Glows. You might try using "Light Reveal" and see if that works for you. You can adjust the duration among other things.
If you're looking for chase lights then look at Random Light in the same category, or Medium Reveal.
There are a lot of options for you to play with in the Glow Category.
