For some reason I cannot print to a Sharp MX2300N printer over the network.

The printer seems to be accessible. I can see all the status details OK (detects all the right number of trays/ink levels, etc) so the Macbook is talking to the printer but when I try to print, the file seems to render OK, pass through the spooler without issue but then just disappears without a trace.

Anyone have any idea what the **** is going on?

Sadly not.

I've had to blow the cobwebs off an old Laserjet desktop printer for him.

If he wants colour, he has to use an old Windows laptop he has under his desk.

Absolutely not the preferred solution.

I'm neither here nor there with regard to the merits/demerits of Macs/PCs but this guy that has to use it is pretty phobic of PCs

If he is in the market for a new one deals are going on right now before black
friday I tried a few and ended up with an HP C6380 networking all in one could
not be happier well it could engage a little faster but everything works and the
quality is great. It at least works great with 10.5.5 and the support is great.

Sorry Osxx, but a Sharp MX2300N is a totally different league to those little HP things, nice though they are.
