I recently got my hands on an HP dv1000 laptop for college. But whenever I come home to my parents house my laptop won't connect to their apple router. Does anybody know what I need to do for it to connect wirelessly? :'(

What sort of Apple router do they have?

Do you have wireless built in to the laptop or are you using a PCMCIA card or USB device?

Can you detect the network at all?

Are you getting any error messages?

Do you know the password/key to the network?

To the OP:

If your parents are using an Apple Airport Express or Airport Extreme base station as their router, install the Windows software that's on the disk which was included with the router. Your HP will then detect the wireless signal and the wizard will walk you through the setup.

Regards.

They have the N router.

The laptop has wireless built in.

I can detect and connect to it, I just can't use the internet.

No errors come up, it just connects and won't connect to the internet.

I do know the password.

I will try that when we get back in town Sunday afternoon and let you know how it goes.

Thanks everyone. ;D
