making my own internet accessible wi-fi network

So my Powerbook can make it's own wi-fi networks, but I can only send out internet if I'm actually plugged in as far as I can see. If I'm in a wi-fi hotspot picking up a signal, is there a way to transmit my own signal that's connected to the wi-fi hotspot's internet?
