Hi , first post here . I've a Mac Desktop and iBook I want to backup - I've also just bought a PC because I wanted to try some CAD software that wasn't available for OSX and it has a biggish hard drive that will be going spare. Can I clone the Macs to the PC hard drive and use it as an external hard drive for backup purposes? I realize I wouldn't be able to open the files on the Windows machine but would it work in other respects ? Thanks

You should be able to create a shared folder on the Windows machine that you can connect to over the network and run backups to using a program like SuperDuper. I don't know that you'll be able to create a bootable image, like you would with an external hard drive, but at least you can run backups to it.

Hi , I posted this in the wrong forum earlier , apologies and hope I've got the right place this time. I've got a G4 tower and an iBook I want to clone /backup to a hard drive . I also have a PC with a lot of hard drive space going spare and I'd like to know if I can use it as a backup drive ,first by cloning my macs to it so I can have a bootable copy on an external disc, then moving important files across to it at intervals. Is this workable ? Thanks.
