multiple speaker error

Your Mac's Specs
Macbook Pro 1.83Ghz, 8G iPhone, iPod Nano
I tried to use the "multiple speakers" function in iTunes (7.7.1) and I get an unknown error -3256. I currently have an Airport Express hooked up to a receiver and speaker system downstairs. I have a Bose Companion 3 hard wired to my Macbook Pro. I would like to have all speakers going.

Anyone have any thoughts why I can't use the multiple speakers function?
