hi
i'll soon buy the G5.
that means also, that i have to buy a new windows/linux system
okey, i thougt about it that way:
a cheap barebone system, on which i run linux (mandrake), just as server.
so, this server is connectet to the internet via wLAN, and connectet to the G5 via gigabit-LAN (crossed cable).
so, the server should always be connectet to the internet, what shoulnt be a problem.
the complicated part of the story is "how to connect it to the G5, so that it doesn't get a network problem".
and, whats the best protocol to transfer files from linux to the mac?
so that the linux is somethings like a fileserver
it's just recommentet, that a harddrive from the linux can be shared via the G5.
something like SMB, but faster
gigabit speed
