Well, I've done it. I have a Powerbook 180c on the way. I'll either get it today or tomorrow (yeah, right.. with the Christmas season).

It has:
33 MHz 68030 processor with 68882 FPU
200 MB Hard Drive (SCSI)
8 MB RAM
14.4 Internal Modem
3.5" Internal Floppy Drive
System 7.5.3
8.4" Active Matrix Color LCD Screen

Okay, so it won't do much. But it'll go everywhere I go and serve as the address book for all my clients (web hosting), web hosts, and software providers, in case of emergency. And, if needed, it could connect to the Internet for basic e-mail.

I know this can't replace my Windows XP system (which is a piece of junk), but it'll work for basic tasks.

Can anyone reccomend a site where I can find:

- an e-mail client for System 7
- a Netscape (4 perhaps?) browser
- a calendar program

Since System 7 is so old, it's been tough to find anything that's compatible with it.

And, of course, I do plan to switch to a Mac completely.. when the money magically appears. :p

Thanks

Actually it was about $35 - shipping included. But that isn't the point. For what I want it to do, it will work. I'll make it work. Because something is old does not mean that you throw it away or stop using it.

Thanks! I've added those to my bookmarks. :)

Another question: Is there a version of Open Transport for that version of Mac OS? If so, where can I find it?

Thanks

Dude, for being willing to use a system that old, you are officially the man. I mean, the iPod has significantly more processing power than that computer (dual 80-90 MHz). If you can use that successfully in this day and age and find programs for it, you deserve some serious commendation. I'm actually a bit jealous of the SCSI, though.

With some carefully written apps, it'll probably be ok :) Apart from looking pretty, the machines and apps I use now don't seem that different to the ones I used 10 years ago. The apps are just much less efficient and the machines much faster to cope with it.
