I just purchased a new iMac and want to buy a 200 gig external hard drive for backup. Should I get firewire or usb2? Any particular drives you can recommend? Lacie, Maxtor…? Reliability is the most important factor for me. Any suggestions much appreciated.

I would get a LaCie drive. They have been very good to me. I always get a firewire dirve since i only have the old usb port. Every thing i have read said that the firewire have better better throughput over all.

I second the LaCie external firewire hard drives. I have two, both 160GB and they are quiet and reliable.
