Ok guys, i have a friend who has been having issues with a SB5101 cable modem (from cox cable) and his airport extreme. I have two modems in my house so i can avoid using my motorola modem from time warner (same model). I tried to get it to work the other day to no avail.

The error message is, airport extreme has a self assigned IP and may not be able to connect to the internet. I move back to cox land here pretty soon so i would like to find a solution to this as much as possible.

P.S. - i know about this much about wireless networking lol, just the basics really (IP address, MAC address, Etc)

Any help is appreciated.
