Hi there
I'm trying to figure outo how to remove .local from the address of my mac-mini
I want other computers on my windows network to access the mac-mini web server.
Instead of "smile.local/mysite", just "Smile/mysite".
I've been around bonjour and dns and dhcp settings, but can't seem to figure this out
any help please.
It's a tiger OS.
thanks

Closer than you think.

.local is actually the domain, like .com or .net.

Without the .local it would try to resolve an internet name like smile.com.

You could try adding a host record entry on all the computers on your LAN, but that's about it. It all comes down to DNS, and your ISP is most likely what you are using. Try editing /etc/hosts (be careful).
