Okkkk so some loser of a kid managed to gnab my IP from a link.. i know n00b of me to click. He is threatening to DDoS and hack my computer. Now i am not a total beginner, i know what i am doing. I was able to get his as well all though he was running through a proxy so im trying to hack around that at the moment.

Id really like to just get away from all this and change my IP. My service is Cox right now. Would i need to call them to do it, or is there a good step by step to change it on my own.

Thanks in advance

Most ISPs use DHCP - you won't have a static IP address. It's likely that if you pull the power cord on your modem and reset it, it will pick up a different public IP. Private IPs are irrelevant.
