Kingston 512mb datatraveler not working...

Does anyone have any experience with kingston flash usb drives? my ibook will recognize it but i cant write anything to the drive. i always get random errors. i emailed kingston, but who knows how long they'll take to get back to me, if at all. thanks for your time

hmm, Id say backup everything on it to your mac, and use disk utility to erase it by reformatting it, it has to be in mac os extended format.

My Kingston drive came formated for windows. It would mount on OS X but I could not write to it. Under OS 9 on another machine it worked - read and write - through File Exchange. After it was reformated for Mac HFS+ it has worked perfectly under both X and 9.

id say still reformat it as mac os extended if youre in 10.3.x. if its hfs, you probably wont be able to write to it.

Was it formatted as FAT32 or NTFS?

I didn't check. I just reformated it after I found that it was not Mac formated. BTW, just to avoid confusion HFS+ and extended are the same thing; http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=30344. If you format it under X it will be HFS+ (extended).

dang, thanks yall. so is there anyway to go back and forth between mac and pc with relative ease?
