On a network dominated with Windows, I want to be able to share a certain folder to everyone else WITHOUT having to simply share my entire home folder.

How can I set up a share on my Mac (10.5.3) so that a Windows client may connect to said share and only that share? I haven't been able to figure it out and would really appreciate a suggestion or some advice.

Make sure SMB sharing is turned on in the sharing preferences.

Then just add and remove the folders to be shared from there.

I've already taken all of those steps. The problem that I believe that I've discovered is that SMB sharing is tied to a specific user. For example: if you engage SMB sharing, a windows computer must enter you as the username. The result is complete access to your entire home folder instead of a specific folder that you specified in the sharing preferences.

REMOVE THE HOME FOLDER FROM THE LIST.

FYI,....that is what authentication and sharing is all about.

Create a generic user then.
