Which 24" iMac

I am planning to buy a 24" imac within the week and I'm not sure which of the 24" imac models would be the appropriate one to buy.

My family (wife and 3 daughters) and I are basic computer users. We use the internet, send emails, use a word processing program and video editing.

The main reason for getting an imac is to transfer our home movies to dvd so the kids can watch themselves on tv. Which of the two base 24" imac models would be the right one to buy? I'm okay with buying the more expensive model, but if it is overkill for what I am planning to do, then I'll buy the less expensive model. A specialist at my local Apple store recommended the cheaper model.

Any advice and/or thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks...

From what you post, I gather you're referring to 2008 models. I say "why spend the extra on something you won't use?". I have just today completed a similar exercise with a client.

And may I add that you have a treasure in your Apple specialist, in that the cheaper option was recommended. Nice to read that.

I tend to agree. The cheaper version will probably meet your needs very well.

I concur with the general consensus here. The less expensive model seems like it would suit your needs just fine.

The cheaper one would do you fine for your needs, since you're not into serious gaming which would require the higher end graphics card.

The only reason to get the most expensive 24" is if you want to play the latest games in Windows.

Any of the iMacs made in the last 3 or 4 years will do what you want you want in their sleep.
