MacBook to 17 Inch Apple Cinema Display help!

I am helping a friend set up his MacBook to a recently purchased 17 Inch Apple Cinema Display (Came with the Powermac G4), we bought the Mini DVI to DVI adaptor and the cord from the monitor does not fit the adaptor. My question is what sort of adaptor would we need in this situation?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
