• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Here's the deal..

I want to use imovie 08' to edit some videos from my schools fencing club. They were MPG files so I converted them to mp4 files, which imovie is supposedly supposed to be able to handle.

The movies are on my HD so I go to file > Import movies > Choose the file I want > create a new event > Copy files > Import

After I hit import it says it copies the files then it generates the thumbnails. This is where I get stuck. I can't find the movie after I import it! Its driving me nuts because I keep expecting it to show up in my project library so I can edit it and it never does.

Someone please HELP!

I also converted the same movie to a .mov file to see if it made a difference and it didn't.

Yes, it should show up somewhere under the Event Library. You may have to expand a few things to find it.
