Here's a bit of regional culture for you:

This is a traditional bavarian Maypole being raised yesterday.
It was 33m tall and raised completely with human power (the mechanical arm is just there as a safety mechanism).

A friend of mine was helping to organise things and I was asked to help when it was about halfway up.
You basically push it up with the large beams you can see. Took 2,5h overall - but free bavarian beer (1 liter mugs) and sausages made it worth it :)

Hehe :)

It was kinda crazy - like a scene from a different era.
It was a bit freaky standing under that thing though... I mean you're holding on to a tiny twig of a tree holding up this huge gigantic behemoth hoping nothing breaks.

Later this week I am taking shots of volleyball on the beach at dusk. Any tips ? I have a Canon 350D, speedlight 430ex, and various lenses.

I know the camera pretty well inside out, but what are your recommendations for shooting a fast sport in low light. High ISO or remote flash ?
Thanks

Looks like it might be a Ford TriMotor, you wouldn't happen to know for sure would you?

I'm pretty sure it's a Junker Ju 52:

They have some over at the airport near here and apparently you can book flights in them. I've never actually seen one fly near here before though...

Yea, on second look it does look like a low wing. Nice picture though, I like it.

I cannot figure out how to post a picture on here without using the attachment... and it is so much smaller on here then it is on my comp? any pointers?
It was just a crappy camera. wasn't mine just asked to borrow it.

Hey great shot!

I've always loved the fisheye effect, but have never gotten around to getting a nice fisheye for myself...

Great composition though, and I love the outcome.

HI I'm new to this forum, I just got my very first mac :) , and I love fotography so I was glad to see this part of the forum, I'm using few cameras Canon powershot a590 as a carry around everywhere, Canon rebel 6.1 as support camera (my sisters lol) and my favorite Nikon D200 with 18-200 vr lens. I don't use much of photo programs unless for cropping and maybe occasional filter other than that I keep my photos original
anyway here is one

I mentioned this in the B&G thread that we took our daughter horse riding last weekend and wanted to share this photo. My daughter, a little over 2 1/2 yrs old, riding on her own without daddy walking nearby to assist. We were both amazed and proud of her. :D
