Hey everyone,

I am a graphics student, currently running bootcamp to use my designing programs on my macbook. Now having that on my hard drive takes up 40gb, so i am looking at maybe upgrading the hard drive, and buying a high quality monitor. That way, my computer can handle the larger programs better.

I was looking at:

1. A hard drive with 3gb/sec SATA interface, 16mb cache, 200gb, 7200rpm

Now i dont know if i really need to upgrade the mac hard drive, or if that will work. Let me know what your opinion is. As of right now i have a 120gb hd, 5400rpm, and im not sure what the other stats are.

Also, I was looking at a monitor:

1. 5000:1 contrast ratio, maybe widescreen, 19-22inches, 1900x1200 res

Those are just options. Let me know if i even need to upgrade the hard drive, and what monitor i should get.

Your Mac's Specs
13" MBP 2.53 DC2, 09 Mini 2.0 DC2, 07 Mini 2.16 DC2, MB 2.0 DC2, iBook G3 900MHz, G4 Sawtooth 1.6Ghz
i dont think your going to see that vast speed improvement by upgrding your hard drive to 7,200. i have had both and the speed was better with 7,200 but not dramatic. your monitor has no effect on your program handling.

your best option would be to make sure you have all the ram your mac will handle. not sure which macbook you have.
