Extended Battery

Is the iPhone ever going to come out with an extended battery? If battery issues are such a problem what is the deal with adding a little depth to the iPhone.

I might start out with a slim (no extended battery) at first and later purchase it, if I felt I needed it.

But why not give us the option?

Just as with the iPod, Apple has no intention of making the battery user-replaceable, which is one of the criticisms of the device. It's more likely that you'll see a 3rd party come out with an external battery that connects to the docking port.

In fact, I'd be really surprised if some of the existing iPod solutions don't work with the iPhone, but this is mere speculation on my part - don't try it if it doesn't specifically state that it is iPhone compatible.
