I bought my iPhone from craigslist about two months ago and I went online to check its warranty status today and it says its applecare runs through till 2009... can I go to the apple store and have them repair it (it freezes up tons and also the speaker volume is so low compared to recent iphones) even though I have no receipt for it?

I mean I dont know where the original seller got it from, I got it with no box, just the charger and a simcard inside the phone... will I get in trouble or have the phone taken away if it turns out the phone may be stolen or something?

did you activate it or was it already done for you?

It came unlocked so I didn't have to activate, I just put my sim card in and began using it...

If the phone is unlocked, even if it's on AT&T I don't think they will help you. They have a pretty strict policy when it comes to unlocked and/or jailbroken phones, they won't work on them.

Cant I just restore the locks and reset it to factory settings?

Not with an unlocked phone. For that, you need to "virginize" it to re-lock it. Restoring simply wipes the jailbreak.

Ok well say I do all that... then can I take it to get it fixed?

Technically if you do all that, then yes, you should be able to take it in for repair.

just dont tell them it was ever jailbroken.

Yeah- jaibreaking voids the warranty!

How much did you buy it for?- cheap?
