Apple Tv Gen 4 has HDMI 1.4 interface, that supports HD w/3D. Apple TV 4Gen does not support. 4K TV sets would require an interface of HDMI 2.0. HDMI 2.0 supports 4k without HDR.

Hopefully Next Gen of Apple TV will have 2.1 HDMI, which support 4K w/ HDR.

I was disappointed that Apple TV Gen 5 (with HDMI 2.1) wasn't announce during the WWDC 2017.
