How much data is an HD movie?
    Hi guys,

I'm thinking seriously about getting the new ATV. I need to know what my data budget should be so I can see the cost of the internet connection as part of the deal.

How much data is in a typical HD movie download?

    Thanks,

    Ken.

The latest Star Trek movie in HD from iTunes is 3.95 Gb for example. That is pretty compressed. The resolution is 1280 x 530 and the sound is in stereo / 5.1 at a data rate of 4450 kb/Second. That is a 126 minute long action movie, dramas might need less data.

    Thanks Stanley,

    I need a data upgrade!

No problem. Better to do it up front than get shaped during a movie.

    Ken.
