Hey guys i think i may have an accurate Leopard release date..

I don't know if someone posted this before me, and if so, I apologise.

My bets are the 15th, 16th, or 17th of OCtober.

I have a quote from a authorised reseller of apple products in my country called tosh computers.

Here is what it said under leopard pre-order, word for word.

Apple Leopard Operating system, OS X 10.5, for existing purchasers who have purchased their Mac here within 129 days prior to the official Apple ship date for Leopard. New retail box, ships appr. 5 days after the official ship date in the US. We expect the release date to be about 17 October

If you don't believe me check this link http://toshbuy.com/product_info.php?cPath=8&products_id=123

So 16th is a tuesday so it could be then, 15th is close to 10.5 so it might be then, and it could be 17th because thats what the website said.

I am not sure how accurate theses guys are so don't get angry at me if I am wrong, all I am saying is I am expecting Leopard to be released in that 3rd week.

Hope this got some hopes up.

You may be right there. Well there seems to be a little logic behind those dates. I wonder how they'll announce Leopard though. I'm thinking with a little keynote speech at Apple HQ. But you know what I'd love. That Steve and a few of the senior employees go to the local apple store and do like a live interview there about it. And that this was live simulcast on big screens at every apple store in the world. And at every store there was like a bog party. . . Well not a party as such, more like a warm happy atmosphere. Where mac users can meet and greet, like an event. And at the end of this speech Steve could say "and Leopard is available to buy now from every apple store". That'd be something special.

I dunno how many people would actually show up at these but a famous person or two at each store would really invoke interest.

So does this mean despite the fact I ordered my Macbook this week and will get it tomorrow - I will still be eligible to receive Lepoard?

I asked a guy I know pretty well at KRCS who are problebly the biggest apple retailer here in the UK yesterday If he had any news & he said that they were just as much in the dark as us & are just waiting on the announcement from apple.

He did say however that knowing how his stores work & lead times on getting stock, Point of sale signage & marketing information he thinks it likey to be the end of the month rather than the middle.

Hopefully he'll be wrong

If Apple has historically launched new versions of OS X on the last Friday, then it looks like I'll be heading to the Apple Store on the 26th :D

It almost HAS to be the end of the month, we're a week in with no official GM yet. I'd guess the packaging is already done, with just DVD duplication and putting it all together remaining, but I can't see it being any earlier than the last week of Cotober.

Well there are only so many Tuesdays left in the month. I can probably make a pretty good prediction myself, too.

What makes you think it will be a Tuesday? Does Apple usually release OSs on Tuesdays?

What makes you think it will be a Tuesday? Does Apple usually release OSs on Tuesdays?

Tiger (10.4) and Panther (10.3) were released on Fridays, Jaguar (10.2) was released on a Saturday, Puma (10.1) was released on a Tuesday, and Cheetah (10.0) was released on a Saturday.

So we have two Fridays, two Saturdays, and one Tuesday. So it's a bit difficult to pin down which day Leopard is more likely to come out...

As a relatively new Mac user I love the enthusiasm that Mac Users have in looking forward to new OS's, programs, equipment, etc! It becomes like Christmas throughout the year as, like children, we excitedly try very hard "to figure out what is in the box, etc." I love it! :D

are there any major apple events this month?

I wish they'll release a new MacBook Pro, with more usb ports, and less heat and an even better graphics card.
