I always thought Front Row was kind of stupid. I can't actually remember ever using it.

^ Same, I even disabled the command+escape shortcut after accidentally hitting it a couple of times while command+tabbing.

Actually, I like the trailer section of Front Row, but that's not really it's main use. That's about all I use it for.

I usually show it to non-Mac users, they seem to like it. But Windows users are easily amused, so I guess it doesn't count.

Don't think I've opened Front Row since Tiger. Have 2 apps like that on my HTPC and don't really use them either.

I can't say I've ever used it--think I opened it just to see what it was when I first got Tiger but that's about it.

I opened Front Row once and I never opened it again. I use Plex now.

I opened it for the first time after seeing this thread. But then I never used Windows Media Center either. They do seem to be redundant.

I hate it. Period. If it were more like WMC…I'd use a Mac in place of a custom Windows PC. And despite the third party hardware/software combos for the Mac for cable/sat hookup…I kind of wish Apple had created Front Row with cable/sat capability.

I guess it's gone because they what the Apple solution to a HTPC to be Apple TV not you're Mac connected to you TV.

Still there are several Media Centre type apps/progs out there if you need that functionality.

Front Row is the reason that I switched to Mac about three years ago. I had been trying for years to build a working DVD jukebox with BSD, Linux and (sorry) Winders and never got one that had usability and stability. One or the other, but not both.

FR worked flawlessly for me on a Mini all through the Leopard years, but lately it has really been going south - crashes, deciding that a perfectly good video is unplayable, few and untranslatable messages in the log file, etc.

I recently switched to Plex which is far less simple to set up (actually, there is very little to setup on FR) but once I got used to it, I found it superior and with far more features, including subtitles which was a major drawback for FR.

So, if they want to take FR out, go ahead.
