    Specs:
    27" iMac i5, 3.2 GHz, iPad 3, iPhone 5c, iPhone 6+, 3 iPods, Yosemite
You know, I've never really liked the MacBook Air because of its drawbacks (no optical drive, memory not upgradeable, high price....) but I can see where the new ones will be more popular. The entry level price of $999 will attract some buyers who may have been inclined to purchase an iPad but instead go for the new Air. Just my opinion, BTW.

Basically the 11.6" MacBook Air can be called Apple's netbook (yes I said it). I mean think about it- compare the options and the weight. The price may be different from Windows/Linux based netbooks, but aside from that, the features are nearly the same.

I think I've found the perfect Mac to replace my Mom's Acer Aspire One. She's wanted a Mac and doesn't want a full-blown MacBook or MacBook Pro.

I suggested the same thing last year when someone at my office asked if Apple made a netbook. Not a bad price if you just need the meat and potatoes computer. Just buy a cheap external DVD burner and you're golden. I can honestly say I haven't used my DVD drive in a couple months so I'm not even sure that's a con for me anymore.

At the moment the MBA and the ipad are suitable though expensive netbook replacements.

The iPad is close to the price of some netbooks, but I concur about the MBA 11.6" price…makes me wonder for that price what will happen to the white MacBook.
