This is the best news since sliced bread.

I'm excited.

Oh, just in time for Episode 3 as well.

It might be Universal but my guess is that it won't be. I can imagine that getting code to compile for both Macs and Windows is difficult enough. Why complicate things even further by creating code that works on two different architectures especially considering the fact that Apple is moving more and more Intel only (as evidenced by Snow Leopard for instance)?

This is most definitely great news.. Sadly, my Whitebook is only a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 GB RAM...

Probably won't be able to run anything good..

Should. I was playing CS:Source back in the day with a P IV and a lot older card than the x1600.

I am well excited for this, its either a reason for me to buy 4GB of ram for my aluminium macbook or time to upgrade to the 15" macbook pro with the dedicated card!

Really would love to play HL2, CS:S and DoD on my macbook without going into windows and then my built in mic might work properly!

This is a major event for me, as pretty much the ONLY reason why I miss my old PC is playing Valve's games. I don't know if anyone's been following the other Valve-related news going on lately, but they just announced Portal 2 as well, coming this fall.

I'm also absolutely stoked that my entire Steam account & catalogue will transfer over at no cost.

You need some patience lol. Portal 2 is going to be the first Win/OSX release, which is expected around Holiday 2010. So I'm sure we will either get it then, maybe a wee bit before Portal 2 is released.

That's scheduled to be the first game released for both platforms simultaneously, not the first game for OSX period. Valve said that Steam for Mac would probably hit sometime in April, so that is long, long before Holiday 2010.

Haven't seen an exact date.
