There is already a tablet of sorts for mac, known as the ModBook. It's 100% legal and was made in conjunction with a third-party company. They actually look like your standard Mac OS X Leopard computer, not like an iPhone or iPod Touch.

Axiotron : Modbook

The one in the picture looks really fake and cheesy.

The Axiotron Modbooks are Macs indeed but they look extremely bulky. I rather stick to my Wacom Tablet.

No more bulky than a White MacBook, although they do weigh an extra 1/2 pound.

This is the same old tired rumor that keeps getting regurgitated by hit-whoring bloggers every few weeks.

Nothing to see here.... move along.... :D

I know the picture they show on that thing is photoshopped but it would be a cool concept I think anyways, especially for a medical field.

That mockup must be a pathetic joke. What a waste of time. There are plenty of other mockups out there that look much better (probably better than the real thing ever could)

I just hope Apple doesn't come up with something over $500 and try to call it a netbook. It would just be a big joke that would knock back Apple's respectability a few years.

As much as I agree that Apple is not in the process of making a tablet, and that all this tablet talk is basically a projection of everyone's wildest fantasies, I think that the fact that the Apple Fans continue to basically beg Apple for the tablet will mean something to Apple. We know Apple would never release a product that was less than worthy of the Apple logo, which temporarily rules out the possibility of cheap netbooks, and also, for now, the mac tablet. As was pointed out already, there is a Modbook tablet available that has the blessing of Apple, but it has a hefty price tag. I think Apple knows they are not in the position to produce an afforable tablet themselves and once they can create something that is more than what everyone could expect from it and also a marketable price, we will perhaps get what we have been wishing for.

I don't know if anyone has seen a new Verizon Wireless commercial where they show some information and some sort of tablet, almost like a big iPod touch. It looks like it'd be a Macbook Touch/Tablet if Apple were to make one. Shocked me when I saw it the other day.

Well, I'll get one anyway if Apple comes out with it....Why? Why not? I love Apple.

I think the idea of a larger iTouch would be neat, I would embrace it but I think it would be better for a meeting or such so you can stream your data to it and have it setup facing the people your pitching to. Or have it in a meeting yet again so you can pull up contacts or the documents while your chatting to the boss and actually show him easily. However, I think it would not really catch onto this.

I can imagine this. Instead of carrying your $1500+ MB Pro or Air you can carry a tablet to fully access the screen, or even pass it around the conference table if there is no projector available/necessary so your co-workers can take a look at what you need to show them. Seems pretty useful for those sorts of purposes.

I don't see the Macbook getting a refresh, as only the white remains, with the 13" unibody going Pro recently...
