    I went to system profiler but couldnt figure out where to look!

    Have a look under Hardware ~> Serial ATA ... there should be a revision number in the lower section of the right pane.

    i dont have that drive but iam going to buy an external HD and start backing up.

    Same, to my knowledge only the core duo models came with a seagate drive...
