Where should I buy from??? Amazon or Apple Online Store? Amazon has the 2.4 ghz SR MBP for $2344 after rebate. I just have one question considering I have only bought my computers directly from Apple.

If something happens to the computer can I still take it to an Apple Store or will there be a problem because I bought it from Amazon? Will I have a problem bringing it to a genius if I have a problem with the computer, considering its from Amazon?

Also, is Amazon a certified Apple Reseller? I would love to give Apple more business, but if I can save $150 then I'm going to because Apple never gives rebates on computers.

Have you checked-out MacMall? I purchased both of my Macs there and had positive experiences both times. They typically have mail-in rebates along with offers for other products (such as VMWare Fusion) available for discounts at the time of purchase of a Mac product. Worth a look at http://www.macmall.com.

Apple should fully support it if you buy it from an authorized seller.
Try the Apple refurbished site, you can find great deals there. A refurbished Mac comes with the same warranty and looks brand new. I just purchased my 3rd refurb Mac yesterday; it's a great way to keep some $$.

I've actually heard nothing but bad things about MacMall and just cancelled my order with them. The customer service was horrible, they charged my mother's credit card twice, and the order status page was not kept well. The company was just too shady for my liking.

Does anyone know if Amazon is an authorized reseller?

I was also looking at refurbs, but I love the feeling of being the first person to ever touch your computer and I think that the extra money is well worth it for that feeling.

They would post it on the page if they were a authorized reseller.
I would think Apple would stop Amazon from selling Macs if they weren't an authorized seller.

The refurb I'm looking at is a 2.4ghz C2D, 160GB 5400RPM HD, 2GB RAM, 8x Superdrive for $2199. It's looking REALLY good. I still am unsure of whether I want to dish out the extra $150 and get it new because I really do love being the first to open the box and use the computer (Most Apple fanboys will know what I am talking about).

I think I might order it from Amazon. I agree with the previous poster. Why would Apple allow Amazon to sell Macs if they weren't an Authorized Reseller. I'm 85% certain that I am going to go with Amazon because I personally think that $150 is well worth the feeling of being the first to use your 2300 dollar investment.

There is a problem with that... I'm not a college student. So I can't use the student discount.

I really don't get the whole "new" thing. All my recent large purchases have been for refurbished items, except my TV. A refurb looks exactly like new. The exterior casing is replaced before sale so packaging aside, there is no way to tell what's new and what's refurbished. Some companies will cheapen the deal by offering a shorter warranty but not Apple.
Like I said, the Mac Pro will be my 3rd refurb purchase, 4th actually if you count an iPod, and I get the same joy of opening a new item just as someone who spends the extra $200.

I know its strange but I love that feeling of being the first person to touch and use my computer. And even you have to admit it bry, ripping open that awesome Apple packaging and knowing that you are the first person to ever touch and use your new 2000+ dollar investment.
