Hi all,

HELP!!! My IBook G4 doesn't start.
It was just working fine till yesterday and now it gives the chime sound at start up and screen's blank no changes but when I tried hitting caps lock and light is glowing and that means it's running but screen is blank.

Can anyone HELP!!! I'll be ripped off If this doesn't get started. It has all my important work data inside.

Thanks.

hi there, i had the same problem not so long ago. it was just after i had done one of the security updates and restarted it, and just a blank gray screen, i had to put the installer disc in and hold down the 'c' key at startup, you can then chose how to boot it up. i had to try this several times. i was just away to do a complete re-install when it worked.

when the install window appears, there should be an option to chose your start up drive.

sorry if this does not help.

Is there any chance you hit the brightness keys by accident??? I did that once and freaked out. My iBook is in it's carry case but if I remember correctly it's F1-F2 for up and down. Worth a check.

Thanks for the reply.
Actually there was nothing that I did and all I remember is last time I used my Laptop it was working fine. It's nothing to do with brightness I guess. Still I don't know maybe this could be the case to do with brightness. Will check that and see.

Anything else I can try. Please let me know. All the readers of this post please help me, I'm literally freaking.

Thanks.

Chris, Thanks for the reply.
Another mystery and case of unfortunate being is that I'm traveling now and I'm not carrying my Installer Disc or OS X cd's with me. I'm feeling miserable.

To all Mac users. Here is something what I have seen and noticed.

Please keep your Mac's Well cushioned and in good bags. Coz I have a feeling that when you travel and on journey's you do get some jerks and stuff. I guess these Macs' are very sensitive and the parts inside are very fragile so be careful. First to get worse or hit will be Logical Board. Watch out for it as you watch your face for burns & scars.

Thanks.
