Hi All,

Had my new macbook for several weeks and it's a great machine. Just added 2GB of the G.Skill Ram and it's fast now!

I have one concern. I seem to have a few 'dark' areas on my screen. They're aren't pixels that are completely out or anything. It's just a general darker area about where the spacebar would be if you closed the top. With a white screen or light background you can't even see it. But with a black or especially the blue startup screen, it's noticeable. I'm postive the surface of the screen is absolutely clean.

What do you all think? Defect? Damaged from the spacebar closing? I've been babying this thing, so it's kind of a surprise.

Cheers,

Tim

My TiPB is doing that, but it's many years old now. Your MB doesn't sound too old, I don't think that's normal. Is it under warranty?

Yeah, it's only a month or two old. I think I'll stop by the Apple store in Omaha next time I'm through. It is pretty annoying when it's noticeable. It is a refurb, and I'm even wondering if the screen was originally replaced, because when I got it, the molding below the screen by the words 'macbook' was popped out. I had to push it and snap it back into place. A little strange for a newly shipped computer. Thanks guys.

I have a few issues with the display on my iMac. There is a cluster of 4 pixels that are always at 1/2 brightness. Then about an inch away is a pixel that only the red component works.

But it wasn't enough for me to return it. Just thinking of having to go back to work on the 677 TiPB while waiting for it get fixed... I'd rather have the 5 f'ed pixels.

Just to fill you in on the outcome...
Took it to the local apple store and they called this effect "brusing".
Might have been from being sqeezed together too tightly in my backpack, or too firm of padding? anyway, they can replace the screen under warranty. good service apple!
