MBP Santa Rosa screen replacement

Hi guys, I've got a 2007 Santa Rosa Macbook Pro and the display is ruined, my little brother picked it up by the screen and ruined it -_-

It currently lives in clamshell mode but this is far from ideal due to my keyboard and mouse hogging the two USB ports, amongst other things.

Anyway, I can buy a new screen and have it fitted for about £130. Just wondering if it's worth doing this or saving up for new one, bearing in mind that it's the oldest Macbook that is still supported by Apple.

I would check eBay prices for 100% working units like yours. If £130 is a significant portion of value of 100% working units…then its probably not worth it.

When working on computers this old (2007)…doing the work yourself and saving the install cash…can be the difference between this project being worth it & not being worth it.

...bearing in mind that it's the oldest Macbook that is still supported by Apple.

Just curious…what do you mean by "still supported"?

There's one going on ebay for £99 with 1 day 23 hours left. If it stays near that I might just buy myself a new machine :')

By 'still supported' I mean Apple are still releasing the newest version of OS X for it.

I'm assuming you don't shop on eBay much. With 1day 23hours left...that price could triple or quadruple before the dust settles. Anyone that is familair with eBay knows (easpecially with electronic items)...the "real action" is in the last 5 minutes...and many times the last 15 seconds.

What you want to look at is "completed auctions". eBay has a feature for this (review previous auctions for sold items).

I do actually ;') I found the cheapest a1226 model that was fully working that was based in the UK, most of them were international sellers, don't wanna pay ridiculous shipping costs as well as potential import tax

Didn't know about the completed auctions bit though, and a few went for about £100-120 so I may as well buy a new one
