I have a macbook A1181 that was just given to me that will not power on at all. Absolutely nothing happens when I push the power button. I have tried it with and without the battery in place. The light on the power supply is green when battery is inserted and orange when it is not. Any suggestion??

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Suggestions? Not really sounds like you have received a machine with a failed logic board.

There's a possibility that the DC input board on that machine has failed. At least that's what it sounds like. The ifixit web site has some good trouble shooting tips to check out. Since you got the machine for free, it won't hurt to take it apart and check it out. A new DC input board is not expensive.

Sometimes getting a computer for free/as a gift...is not always the "great deal" it may appear to be.

Both suggestions by harryb2448 and chscag are two definite possibilities for why the computer will not power on.
