In order to transfer files from Mac OS X to a Windows machine, you must have a NTFS driver installed on your Mac that will allow write access to the PC. Of course if the PC hard drive is formatted to FAT-32, then no driver is required. But nowadays only very old PCs have their hard drives formatted to FAT-32.

We recommend Paragon NTFS from Paragon Software. ($19.95)

Which NTFS app do you have on your MacBook Pro? You do not need a NTFS driver to copy files from a Windows machine to your Mac. However, you do need a NTFS driver that works right in order to copy files from your Mac to Windows.

I am a relative novice at this but here is something that has happened to me before with some incarnations of Windows. Sometimes I find it helpful if the user accounts on both machines have the same name and password.

I assume of course that under Windows you have the right to access the area you are writing to.

Not via an SMB share, the windows machine makes the write.. and SMB facilitates it. You are not writing directly to disk this way..

What error did the OP get when attempting to write files?

I thought the same thing at first. There should never be a need for drivers when networking different systems as the protocol takes care of it. However, I'm not certain from his posts how he's transferring the data. He says by Lan, but then states that it's OK from Windows to the Mac but not the other away around?
