Angry Help!! I tired upgrading my macbook ram and now it won't boot
I have a MacBook 2009 core 2 duo 2.4 ghz with 2 gb ram. I tried to upgrade to 4 gb, 2-2 gb sticks. I used cent on macready DDR2 800/667/533 ram. I thought this was the right ram. When I upgraded the system wouldn't boot. It will boot with old ram or with one new stick and one old stick giving me 3 gb of ram. I don't understand everything says I can upgrade to 4 gb, even some say 6 gbs. Please help. I bought a package and I cut it open, this will be a pain to return.

    Specs:
    27" iMac i5, 3.2 GHz, iPad 3, iPhone 5c, iPhone 6+, 3 iPods, Yosemite
Are you sure this is a 2009 model? The 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo sounds more like a late 2008 model MacBook with an aluminum unibody. The 2009 models did not come with a Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz processor.

If it is a late 2008 model as I described above then the memory should be:

    2 - 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM

And according to Mactracker that machine can take up to 8 GB of memory.

I looked into it more and I think I have a generation 5 white 2.4 ghz 2008 model. It is definitely white 13' 2.4 core 2 duo. And I think we got it in 2008 around October/ November.

The "about system" says I have ddr2 667. And the 200 pin 2gb stick fits in because right now my system has 3 gb rams up and running. One old stick one new one. I don't know why it won't work with both new sticks.

You may have gotten a defective Ram stick. It happens, you might just have to take it back and explain how it doesn't work.

What he said... You buy enough RAM over time and you will end up getting a dead stick.
