MB PRO Ram upgrade

Hi!

I am planning to upgrade my MB Pro's RAM. I have a MA896LL/A (2007) 15" MacBook PRO.

Should I go with 2x2gb or 4gb in one module in case I later consider adding 2gb more?

And also - can I install PC6400 ? Or just PC5300

According to Mactracker:

Maximum RAM 6.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple)
Type of RAM Slots 2 - 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM


Since there is only one memory bank holding two modules you should populate the bank. In other words, always use two modules. Your choices are: 2 x 2GB or 1 x 2GB + 1 x 4GB which means you can either have a total of 4 GB or 6 GB.

Your machine uses the PC2-5300 type. Do not use PC2-6400 as they likely will not work correctly.

I eventually went with 4+1 for now... everything works fine so far..
And by the way - my 4GB module is 6400..
