Making desktop invisible on projected screen
    Hello Forum,

I am using my Macbook Pro to project video from a projector for a stage performance. The video needs to be stopped and started.

Once the macbook is connected to the projector, I have unchecked mirroring of the displays and therefore the projected screen is an extension of the display. I only show the video screen on the projected display.

Everything works fine but there is one problem. When there is no video running, it displays the desktop background on the projected screen. How do I avoid that?

Even changing my desktop background in systems preferences doesn't help.

    Please advise.
    Thanks,

    Specs:
    MacBook Pro | LED Cinema Display | iPhone 4 | iPad 2
If you're not mirroring, just set the extended desktop background to something like black so it seems blank.

    Thanks Schweb.

I tried that already but the projected screen always displays the default desktop background that the macbook pro came with (factory setting).

Can you take a screenshot of your display settings when you've got it connected to a projector?

    PRoblem solved
I could set the desktop background Dark black for the extended desktop.

To do this however, I had to first mirror the displays. Change the desktop and then uncheck the mirroring of displays. What a round about way of setting the desktop for your extended display.
