Hey guys finally going over to the good side and biting the bullet and getting a Mac.

Looking at the two 13.3inch MBP one being the Refurbished and the Current Model.

    What are the big differences

I will be using it for college and mostly surfing the web, music, movies, writing papers and maybe do a little gaming.

    Which is the better option.

Ya know...I would really like to help you out with your decision...but there are two different 2011 model MacBook Pros...and at least three different MacBook Pros currently in the refurbished list...that's a total of 5 different MacBook Pros ranging in price from $899 to $1499.

Are you saying any of these are possibilities? If not, narrowing things down a bit would help.

    Specs:
    Mac Pro 4.1 15" MBP. 13" MBP. 17" PB. Power Mac G5. Galaxy Note 4 160gb*
I would pick the second MBP for its better processor, faster ram, and a bit more hdd space. Plus, it's newer.

Both should be more than fine for your basic needs though.

My basic needs are really what it comes down to. Is it worth the $300 price difference.

$300? From the refurb list, this is what you get:
$899-Refurbished MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    OR
    $1019-Refurbished MacBook Pro 2.3GHz dual-core Intel i5

I would personally go for the i5. For $120, the savings isn't justifiable in my opinion.

I think I was calculating the refurbished and the new one.

I appreciate your help. Would I be able to play some higher quality games on the second one like a Call of Duty. Will it be noticeable faster and how is the battery life on the two.

Should have included prices as well...make it easy on us.
