I am looking to buy a MBP next month. I have been doing my videography work on a Toshiba A505 S6033. I am looking to switch to MBP, but I can't decide on whether I want the 13 inch MBP 2.7ghz or the 15 inch 2.2ghz... please advise on which avenue I should take.

I think it would be best if you explain in detail exactly what you will be using it for. As "videography" is rather broad, it would be helpful for the members if you gave us more specific information.

Thanks for the welcome. Mainly I will be doing weddings and special events. But on the side I produce music as well. So I will be doing some music on it too. I feel that I need to me mobile, so I am trying to decide which laptop will give me the most power, but not cost an arm and a leg.

But I don't know if I can handle that small screen on the 13" MBP. So used to the 15" screen.

If you don't mind springing for an external monitor to use on the desktop portion of your video process, you'll enjoy it much better than either a 13 or 15. In that case, get the 13 for portability. Be sure to get one that is supported by the output of the MBP that you choose.

Well, you get what you pay for, so taking the costing an arm and a leg out of it....
Performance, portability and screen real estate, I would go the best 15" you can afford if you really want the best bang for your buck.
You don't need to worry about the RAM and HD, as you can upgrade that yourself should you feel you need to in the future.
Best to go into Apple and do a side by side comparison of the 13" and 15" to check out the size and weight.

Yes, I agree. An external monitor is really the way to go for video editing (and sound mixing for that matter)
with that you could get the 13" for portability and comfort in the field (tethered shooting or just transferring data)

But without an external monitor the 15" would be ok. And its not that much of a jump from the 13. Its a bit bigger, but I own one and it is very portable.
I have done some editing with FCP, and I have to admit even with the 15" screen its a little bit annoying to have something so small (Im used to dual 27" cinema display)
Im working in Europe right now though so Im forced to do everything with my MBP.
Im glad I went with the 15" as 13" was really just too small to be an option for me

I have a 24" iMac that I purchased about a year and half ago. Can I use that as my external monitor and purchase the 13" for portability? I gotta keep in mind that pro tools will be on my MBP as well.
