Airport Card won't recognize networks after os reinstall

We had a powerbook at work that was continually acting up. As it was just a conference room computer, the best option was to just do a wipe and clean with the os. After doing the reinstall, the airport card doesn't pick up our wireless network. We have another laptop that has no problem connecting so the network is fine. I have made sure that the airport card is on, but still nothing.

The laptop has another problem with the dvd drive, so I had to boot up in firewire mode and then install the os using another laptop. Could the installing computer be the reason the airport card doesn't work??

If the network is not broadcasting the SSID (identifier name or network name) it won't show up in the airport. Futhermore, if the network is encrypted (WEp or WPA) and/or firewalled then the PB won't connect either. You need to manually input the WEP or WPS password on the PB to permit a connection. Furthermore, you also may have to assign a specific IP address to the PB from the wireless server.

If you can post some screenshots, this may help.

The network is set up within our conference room and is isolated from our network so I simply left it open so our clients can just open and connect.... I am just looking at the install disk that I used, and it might be one from a newer powerbook that would have an extreme card in it, while the problem one just has a regular. Could that be the problem??

I believe that could be a problem, you installed software for hardware you don't have.. see if you can find your discs for your powerbook and try to start over again.

Wawa.... I just heard that game show sound in my head. But you are probably right. I will try and find the disks. Wow what an ordeal this has become.
