Hi,
My MBP goes thru the motions like it's booting but it stops at blue screen and the wait icon turns and turns but nothing. It might be because the battery pack just gave. It had been working even though the battery pack was swollen. I just ordered it. In the mean time my question is does it need the battery pack if it's connected? How do I know for sure if it's the battery?

Thanks

You can remove the battery and run from AC power only. The machine will run slower that way, but it's much safer than using it with a swollen battery pack.

As for the machine not booting... Do you have your original install DVD? Try booting with that and use Disk Utility to verify your hard drive. In the meantime, check to see if you can boot in Safe mode. Hold down the shift key while booting. Let us know.
