Do I Run Warm?

Alright everyone, I know these MBP can run really hot, but mine seems like it's running warm all the time lately. I'll be sitting in class typing notes up in Word or browsing the web in Firefox and my CPU is running between 60-70 degrees Celsius and the fans up around 4-6K RPM. All I have open right now is Firefox and my computer is at 65 degrees and the fans at 4500 RPM. It's my photojournalism class, so most of us use Apples and I'm the only one whose machine is making noise because of the fans trying to keep it cool! I really didn't think these things were supposed to run this hot when under no load. Does anyone else have an issue with their laptop running at these temperatures?

On a side note, I was hitting about 90 degrees Celsius when rendering in Final Cut. The rendering got slow, the temps skyrockets and the fans started blasting. This happens almost all the time I render now. I don't ever remember it being like this.

Everything you mentioned is not unusual. Your temps. have been reported many times by other users...and everything is fine.

As far as why your computer is louder than others in your class...maybe closing Firefox would help. Sometimes if you're on a webpage (especially You Tube) that's putting a lot of demand on your computer (even if you're just using your word processing program)...that can cause the computer to heat up.

Besides...you probably shouldn't be surfing the web while in class anyway!

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one! It was starting to worry me.

And in December, mine will be 4 years young. It's running today with an upgraded drive and 10.6, faster than the day I brought it home.

I've noticed even when I have it sitting on my desk playing a playlist as I fall asleep, the fans are hovering around 5,000 RPM and the CPU in the high 60s-low 70s.
