Hi there

I have a MacBook (White, late July 2008)

The screen has lines (white, usually) running across the screen.

I don't have Apple Care, and am going to be going to the Apple Store tomorrow

How much do you think I will be paying w/out the plan?

Thanks!

G

PS. If you have any advice, please, PLEASE let me know :)

You can at least count on paying the minimum fee for a diagnosis whatever that may be. The symptoms you describe could be graphics related or perhaps even the display itself. Since the graphics chipset is integrated (soldered) on to the logic board, if it's defective the entire logic board would have to be changed. Expensive repair.

It could be something as simple as a loose video cable connector. ??

Make sure you ask for an estimate before authorizing any repairs.

Regards.

Just to clarify: In my experience, they'll always look at your problem for free, you'll just need to authorize any costly repairs before they will fix it. But if it's a more complicated issue that requires taking it apart, then that will be part of the repair fee.

So it can't hurt to ask.
